Gravity

My mother told me
The earth loves you so much
She'll always hold you close
It's the biggest love there is

She said, don't let too
much come between you
and her skin, cos then you'll forget
what's true and what's not

Is a gull warm
On a blustery day?
Huddled with kin
Against the icy sleet?

Learn their way she said
Don't invent another story
Be held in her cupped hands
And love back over and over
